Job Summary:
At Forbes Electronics Sdn Bhd, the Purchasing and Procurement Executive plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and cost-effective supply of raw materials, electrical components, and production tools needed for automotive wire harness assembly and related product lines. This role involves working closely with local and international suppliers to manage inventory levels, maintain production schedules, and support quality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sourcing & Procurement
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers for components such as terminals, wires, connectors, and electronic modules.
- Obtain quotations, negotiate pricing, and issue purchase orders in alignment with project timelines and cost targets.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid production delays.
2. Vendor Management
- Establish strong working relationships with both local and overseas suppliers.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance (on-time delivery, quality, and service) and take corrective actions when necessary.
- Coordinate with QA team to address and resolve any supplier-related quality issues.
3. Cost Control & Budgeting
- Monitor market trends and raw material pricing (e.g., copper, plastic resins).
- Support cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or delivery.
- Assist in preparing procurement cost forecasts for project bids and budget planning.
4. Inventory Coordination
- Work closely with the Warehouse and Production teams to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Monitor material usage, lead times, and forecast reordering needs.
- Support urgent purchase requests and manage slow-moving or obsolete stock.
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records for all purchases including invoices, quotations, and delivery notes.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and customer-specific requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary procurement documentation.
Ad-Hoc Tasks:
- Support urgent sourcing requirements during production escalations or material shortages.
- Participate in customer audits, supply chain presentations, and cross-site sourcing reviews.
- Conduct supplier benchmarking or market surveys as directed by senior management.
- Undertake any special projects or assignments given by the General Manager or Managing Director.
Job Requirements:
Education: Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or electronics industry.
- Prior experience in automotive procurement is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Familiar with Bill of Materials (BOM), MRP systems, and procurement modules in ERP software (e.g. SQL, SAP).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
Soft Skills:

Language Proficiency:
- Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia;
Other Requirements:
- Possess own transport and willing to travel when necessary.
- Good understanding of Incoterms, import/export procedures, and customs clearance (preferred).
